Night Shift 2026
Night Shift is an annual late-night dance series produced by Citadel + Compagnie in collaboration with Fall for Dance North. Each season brings together artists working across a wide range of movement practices, creating a space where experimentation and new performance can unfold.
For the 2026 campaign, I wanted the photographs to move beyond documenting performance and instead create images that distilled each artist to gesture, form, and presence. Working with a minimal lighting setup and a blacked-out environment, the focus shifted toward silhouette, movement, and the sculptural qualities of the body. The resulting images exist somewhere between portraiture and performance, using light and shadow to emphasize physicality while leaving space for interpretation.
Created in collaboration with the artists and the Citadel team, the series explores what can emerge when the visual language is reduced to light, shadow, and form. Each photograph focuses on the individuality of the performer, allowing gesture and presence to become the subject.
